Simmons says he’s fine
Kiss bassist and co-founder Gene Simmons was involved in a car crash in Malibu, California, yesterday (Tues, Oct 7th).
Simmons was driving his Lincoln Navigator on the Pacific Coast Highway when he reportedly lost consciousness. His SUV crossed several lanes of traffic before colliding with a parked car.
Simmons told responding officers that he either fainted or fell asleep at the wheel. His wife, Shannon Tweed, later stated that his doctors had recently changed his medication and that he needed to increase his water intake to avoid dehydration, which she believed contributed to him passing out. Simmons has also been public about his heart condition, atrial fibrillation (AFib), which can cause fainting.
“Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us were horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well,” Simmons shares on social media.
Simmons was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation as a precaution. He has since been discharged and is recovering at home. No one else was reported to be injured in the crash.
