The mid-tempo song is now available
Walker Montgomery is in one of the happiest seasons of his life as a newly engaged man but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know his way around a bona fide tearjerker, especially one as traditional as his latest single “Watching Storms Roll In,” out now.
This mid-tempo, with a distinctive throwback feel, is deceptively upbeat in its production as a brokenhearted cowboy runs through his day, recounting the chores he’s finished and the things he’s done, while trying to keep the one he lost off of his mind and his shattered heart. As the clouds roll in and the rain beats down, he sits patiently waiting and watching the road for any sign she might come back. Sadly, he knows that tomorrow will be just the same, with more rain and more pain. The new retro-tinged track is sure to become a classic, joining that long list of “songs about rain.”
“‘Watching Storms Roll In’ is a classic heartbreak song. One person has done the leaving and the other person is trying to find anything to do but misses the love they lost,” says Montgomery.
Written by Bart Butler, Justin Ebach and Josh Thompson and produced by Bart Butler, the new single is a shining example of the authentic traditional style of Walker Montgomery. True to himself and country music, Montgomery continues to solidify his place in the industry while creating his own legacy, one song at a time.
