The Grinch chats with us at Universal Studios Hollywood
Who doesn’t love The Grinch? (See what I did there?) It’s the time when the popular, beloved Christmas figure is out and about at Universal Studios Hollywood. On a trip this week, Matt Bailey had a chance to chat with him about his three favorite Christmas songs, and we’re glad he decided to answer.
We don’t want to give it away, so be sure to watch the short video with the interaction. However, we’ll tease that with his first song, he prefers one artist over another because the original “SUCKS!” The second one he picks is “so long and tortures people,” and the last is an obvious choice.
Despite his sour, green, cave-dwelling exterior and having a heart that’s “two sizes too small,” The Grinch is a fun-loving creature who tells it like it is.
Universal’s 2000 live-action hit, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which featured Jim Carrey as the cynical Grinch and Taylor Momsen as the kind-hearted Cindy Lou Who, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Momsen, who played the seven-year-old Whoville resident, originally performed the film’s signature song, “Where Are You Christmas?”
Now, Momsen—who stepped away from acting in 2011 to focus entirely on her music career with her band, The Pretty Reckless—has released a powerful new version of the song, transforming the beloved holiday ballad into a rock anthem.
This marks the first time Momsen has revisited the song since the film’s release. The performance serves as both a tribute to the classic and a bold reimagining for a new generation. With her strong vocals and signature edge, Momsen breathes new life into the timeless track, bridging the gap between her early Hollywood beginnings and the unapologetic artistry that has defined The Pretty Reckless’ sound.
The Grinch, accompanied by his faithful dog Max and other beloved Who-ville residents, is holding daily meet-and-greets at Universal Studios Hollywood, running through January 4th.
Guests should make their way to the Universal Plaza to find the magnificent 65-foot Grinchmas tree.
Guests can also witness a spectacular celebration centered around the lighting of the park’s one-of-a-kind Dr. Seuss-inspired tree. This nightly ceremony features a festive display of music, song, and light that truly captures the spirit of Grinchmas.
