Sheeran is the third high profile act to cancel a show in the city this weekend
Ed Sheeran is the latest artist to cancel a concert in St. Louis, following civil unrest in the city. As with U2’s canceled Saturday (Sept 16th) concert at the Dome at America’s Center, security concerns have postponed Sheeran’s concert at the Scottrade Center for Sunday, September 17th.
“With the safety of the fans being of upmost concern, and after consulting with local officials, who could not fully commit to providing a sufficient amount of police and other city services support, we felt it was in everyone’s best interest to cancel Sunday night’s show. While we regret to have had to come to this decision, we do look forward to returning to St. Louis as soon as Ed’s schedule will allow in 2018,” Messina Touring Group said in an email to KSDK TV in St. Louis.
Refunds will automatically be refunded to the credit card used for all purchases via Ticketmaster. Tickets purchased in person at the Scottrade Center Box Office will be refunded in person beginning Monday, September 18th at 10 am CT.
Sheeran is the third high profile act to cancel shows in St. Louis this weekend. Besides U2, comedian Mike Birbiglia canceled his show for Saturday (Sept 16th) at The Pageant.
The cancellations come as protests run rampant throughout the city due to the acquittal of former St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley of first degree murder in the 2011 shooting death of Anthony Lamar Smith.
