Female trio co-wrote the majority of the tracks on their Blue Roses debut album

BBR Music Group recording artists, Runaway June have signed a new global publishing administration agreement with BMG. Comprised of the vocal stylings and musicianship of Naomi Cooke (lead vocals, guitar), Hannah Mulholland (vocals, mandolin), and Jennifer Wayne (vocals, guitar), not only are the members of Runaway June tremendous performers and musicians, as songwriters, the band wrote or co-wrote a majority of the tracks on their critically acclaimed debut album Blue Roses, released in the summer of 2019 via Wheelhouse Records.

2019 marked a breakthrough year for the group as their single “Buy My Own Drinks” raced up the country charts making them the first all-female trio in over sixteen years to score a Top 5 hit. The milestone was not only a chart triumph for the band but was also celebrated as their first Top 5 hit as songwriters.

2020 is off to a remarkable start for the trio, as well. They were the only female group voted into this year’s Country Radio Seminar prestigious New Faces Class and announced their upcoming opening slot for the Luke Bryan’s Proud To Be Right Here Tour kicking off in late May. Runaway June will also head to the UK for a mainstage performance for County 2 Country in London and the O2 Arena, with stops including Dublin and Glasgow.

“We are so excited for our next venture with BMG, our new publishing partners,” states Jennifer Wayne of Runaway June. “Since our partnership, our writing has excelled tremendously… they have given us great enthusiasm and support and we cannot wait for what’s to come!”

“Runaway June are phenomenal songwriters at the forefront of the next generation of country music,” says Monti Olson, BMG SVP, Head of Frontline Music Publishing, North America. “Already part of the BMG team, this is a wonderful opportunity to work even closer alongside them and BBR Music Group to help take their creativity and careers to the next level.”

The band’s 2019 debut record Blue Roses gained critical acclaim resulting in the album claiming spots on many end of year lists of the best country and Americana albums including Paste and Rolling Stone. While constantly digging deeper to fill out a sound that connects them to the tradition of country music and its devoted fans, the group have garnered high praise from many across the industry, scoring nominations at the 2019 CMT Awards for Breakthrough Video of the Year and ACM Awards for New Vocal Duo or Group of The Year.

Since Cooke, Mulholland and Wayne formed Runaway June four years ago, the trio have scored major tours with some of the biggest names and icons in music including supporting seven-time Grammy winner and Pollstar’s three-time top female country touring artist Carrie Underwood on the Cry Pretty Tour 360 – recently performing 55 arena dates across the US and Canada.
