Three men were found dead after from carbon monoxide poisoning
Luke Combs is paying it forward by fronting the funeral costs of three men who passed away at last weekend’s Faster Horses Festival in Michigan. The three men — 20 year old Dawson Brown, 20 year old Richie Mays and 19 year old Kole Sova — were found dead inside a trailer on Saturday, the night after Combs headlined, due to carbon monoxide poisoning from their generator while camping.
WLNS-TVreports that Combs is covering the funeral expenses. A representative for Combs confirmed the news, but says Combs will not be making a further statement about the matter.
“It’s just so surreal. It’s like, holy moly. For him to do that – I mean he doesn’t know our boys – there’s so many people there to watch him,” Sova’s mother, Meeka, says of Combs’ kindness. “For him to reach out and do that, I don’t even have the words. I wish I could just give him a hug. Right now, through this hard time, it’s hard to come up with words, but the hugs are what we feel. We definitely feel that awesome gesture.”
Rayfield Johnson and Kurtis Stitt were also in the camper and are “fighting for their lives” as they’re being treated for carbon monoxide poisoning at a local hospital.
A
GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help with all of the victim’s medical expenses. As of press time, more than $61k was collected towards the $65k goal. The funds will be divided between the victims and their families to assist with medical costs.
In an unrelated death, 30 year old Melissa Havens was found earlier in the day at the three-day festival site. Authorities are currently asking for the public’s help to identify the last person seen with her as they do not comment on the possibility of foul play.
