Republic Records expands JYP Entertainment partnership

Deal includes Stray Kids, Itzy & Twice with more to be announced

Republic Records has solidified an expansion of their historic alliance with South Korean global K-Pop powerhouse JYP Entertainment. Under this partnership, Stray Kids, ITZY, and TWICE will expand their global success, including the United States, with support from Republic Records alongside Imperial.

“We are beyond delighted to move forward with Republic Records, the most outstanding label in the United States, in developing the major artist roster of the two companies’ hereafter, starting with the successful kickoff TWICE has brought. We have absolute confidence that, together, we will lead the rapidly changing music industry from both in and out, alongside our prominent artists’ creations,” JYP Entertainment CEO Jimmy Jeong says.

Republic and JYP Entertainment will strengthen their endeavors together, with more news to be announced soon from this exciting landmark partnership.

Republic and JYP have already made a major impact with TWICE. The group’s most recent offering, Formula of Love: O+T=<3, bowed at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200, marking their second Top 10 debut in 2021. Additionally, “The Feels” vaulted onto the Billboard Hot 100 as the group’s first entry. Not to mention, they delivered showstopping performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Ellen, and TIME 100 Talks. Meanwhile, “Alcohol-Free” received a MTV VMA nomination for “Best K-Pop.” They’ve consistently sold out shows on multiple continents, gathered hundreds of millions of streams, and attracted one of the most loyal audiences in the world.

Now, Republic and JYP Entertainment will also galvanize the rise of eight-member boy band Stray Kids. Since launching in 2017, the group has impressively amassed over two billion global Spotify streams, becoming one of only four K-Pop boy groups in Spotify history to reach this milestone. In 2021 alone, they generated the third-most streams of any K-Pop group on Spotify. They also hold the distinction of being JYP Entertainment’s first million-selling artist, moving 1.1 million units of NOEASY in under two weeks. Their total sales in 2021 exceeded over 2.7 million. NOEASY notably also reached No. 1 in 40 territories on the iTunes Overall Albums Chart, while “Thunderous” soared to No. 1 in 52 territories on the iTunes Overall Top Songs Chart. The “Thunderous” video also trended at #1 worldwide on YouTube for four days.

Additionally, ITZY has achieved stratospheric global success. Most recently, 2021’s Crazy in Love crashed the Billboard Top 200 at No. 11, making for the group’s best debut on the chart. It also arrived at No. 3 on the Spotify Top 10 Album Debut Global Chart and the Top Album Debut USA Chart. They also have surpassed six million monthly listeners on Spotify as the first idol group in the fourth generation of K-pop to reach this milestone.
