Post Malone, Young Thug headline Summer Smash Festival 2022

Midwest’s biggest hip hop festival returns to Chicago

Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash Festival, the premier hip hop music festival in the midwest, is excited to reveal the full music lineup for this year’s three-day music festival returning Friday, June 17th through Sunday, June 19th to Chicago’s Douglass Park. Post Malone, Young Thug, Gunna and Playboi Carti are headlining the event.

Founded by a pair of Chicago-based music powerhouses – concert promoter SPKRBX and next-gen media company Lyrical Lemonade – Summer Smash Festival has grown into one of the largest independent music festivals in the country after playing host to 90,000 attendees last summer. With a return to its traditional dates in mid-June, Summer Smash will soon offer fans the festival’s most stacked lineup to date filled to the brim with today’s biggest names in hip-hop.

Festivities will kick off Friday with a headlining performance from Grammy Award-winning rap pioneer Young Thug will be joined by fellow YSL Records labelmate Gunna for the Atlanta-based rap duo’s first-ever full-set collaborative performance; followed by a Saturday night performance from singer/songwriter Post Malone, who is one of the highest-selling music artists of the past quarter century and is prepping for the release of his next album later this year. Enigmatic emcee Playboi Carti will help close out the three-day fest on Sunday night following his recent “Album of the Year” nomination the 2022 Grammy Awards in support of his contributions to Kanye West’s critically acclaimed project Donda.

Additional weekend performances skew across a wide range of hip hop subgenres like cloud rap, southern hip hop, trap, drill, West Coast, and more, with first-time Summer Smash performances from the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Polo G, Rico Nasty, Oliver Tree, 2 Chainz, and Ohgeesy, plus the inaugural Chicago debut of rising rap star Yeat. Helping to round out the 2022 lineup, other notable performers include a number of festival alumni like Trippie Redd, Ski Mask The Slump God, Lil Tecca and $not, among many others.

Three-day GA and VIP passes are available for purchase at TheSummerSmash.com, starting at $275. Interested fans are encouraged to purchase their passes as soon as possible because ticket prices will continue to rise as the festival date approaches, and VIP tickets in particular are expected to quickly sell-out in advance similar to previous years.

Additional details surrounding this year’s event will be announced in the coming weeks.
