Country Music Hall of Fame extends Martina McBride exhibit

Exhibition runs through July 2023

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is extending its Martina McBride: The Power of Her Voice exhibit through July 2023. The exhibit opened last year and was set to close in August 2022, but the organization has decided to extend it in honor of McBride’s 30th anniversary as a recording artist and her cultural impact on country music.

McBride has been releasing anthemic music with a message for 30 years with her legendary career blending profound and bold statement songs brought to life by her soaring vocals. The collection, which was unveiled in the summer of 2021, explores the music and legacy of the influential vocalist, tracing her journey from performing in her family’s band as a child to becoming a chart-topping, award-winning, perspective-shifting country music artist.

Items featured in Martina McBride: The Power of Her Voice include awards, stage wear, handwritten lyrics and personal artifacts. Some highlights include the shirt, vest and pants ensemble worn on stage by McBride, when she performed at age seven with her family’s band, the Schiffters; McBride’s 1984 Sharon High School yearbook; The beaded headband and tulle veil worn by Martina at her wedding to John McBride, May 15, 1988; Songwriter Gretchen Peters’ original handwritten manuscript for “Independence Day;” Letter from Dolly Parton to McBride, congratulating her on being named the Country Music Association’s Female Vocalist of the Year in 2003; Jenny Packham dress — embellished with rhinestones, beads and sequins — worn by McBride on the cover of her 2007 album Wake Up Laughing; CMA Female Vocalist of the Year awards presented to McBride in 1999, 2002-2004; and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year awards presented to McBride in 2001-2003.

This fall, McBride will support Wynonna Judd on The Judds: The Final Tour, an all-star tribute to mother and musical partner Naomi Judd, who tragically passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on April 30th. Wynonna has chosen to honor her mother’s legacy by inviting some of music’s biggest stars to join her onstage for the 11 date trek to perform some of the timeless hits that earned The Judds multiple Grammy, CMA, and ACM awards over a span of 30+ years. Along with McBride, Wynonna is thrilled to welcome Brandi Carlile, Ashley McBryde, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town, Trisha Yearwood and Faith Hill, on select dates to honor the legacy of The Judds and their everlasting impact on country music.

She will round out the year spending November and December on 12th annual The Joy of Christmas Tour. Kicking off on November 26th in Greensboro, NC, McBride will once again hit the road to celebrate the holiday season in what has become a favored tradition of not only her fans but of McBride’s as well.
