The drone sightings will be part of the network’s annual New Year’s celebration
ABC is advising residents and visitors of the New York City area that any drones they may see throughout the area this weekend are part of their production of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest. In recent weeks, unidentified drones have been spotted throughout the United States, leaving residents concerned.
“We are working on something truly special to lift your spirits,” the network writes on social media. “If you see some of our drones rehearsing this Saturday, Dec 28th, don’t worry NY/NJ viewers—we just want to make sure your celebration soars this New Year’s Eve!”
The star-studded celebration will air live on ABC on Tuesday, December 31st, beginning at 8 pm EST, and stream the next day on Hulu. The show, which marks its 53rd year, celebrates the year’s very best in music with hours of dynamic performances, America’s favorite personalities, and a look at New Year’s celebrations around the globe.
In his 20th year as host of America’s most-watched New Year’s Eve special, Ryan Seacrest will lead the countdown to midnight alongside global superstar Rita Ora live from Times Square. Dayanara Torres returns as co-host in Puerto Rico. Emmy Award-winning television personality Jeannie Mai returns to the broadcast and will co-host the West Coast Party while a new partnership between Dick Clark Productions and MGM Resorts International brings the party to Las Vegas in a multi-year deal with four-time Super Bowl-winning football star Rob Gronkowski co-hosting from the Las Vegas Strip.
Performers include Blake Shelton, Alanis Morissette with special guest Reneé Rapp, Dasha, DJ Cassidy’s Pass The Mic Live! starring Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Slick Rick & Doug E. Fresh, Ernest, Hardy, Kesha, Laufey, Natasha Bedingfield, T-Pain, Carrie Underwood, Jonas Brothers, Thomas Rhett, TLC, and many others.
