The two artists join forces on a new song
Aerosmith and Yungblud have teased their new collaboration titled “My Only Angel” after an initial joint performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. The track marks Aerosmith’s first new music in over a decade, with their last studio album, Music from Another Dimension!, released in 2012.
The collaboration between the legendary rock band and the modern genre-bending artist was teased and then confirmed after the artists performed a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the MTV Video Music Awards. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, along with Yungblud, performed a medley of Ozzy’s songs, which led to the announcement of their new single, “My Only Angel.” A short preview of the song has been released, showing Tyler and Yungblud singing in the studio together.
More details and the song’s release are expected soon.
Aerosmith retired from the road last August, following ongoing vocal struggles by Tyler. In January, Tyler made his first public performance at a Janie’s Fund charity event since the late-summer 2024 announcement.
Perry recently spoke with SiriusXM’s Eddie Trunk about the band possibly playing one final time together.
“I think it’s just a matter of getting there, you know?” Perry says. “I mean, it’s like, you know, I mean, we’re up there, man. And it’s a lot, you know. It was interesting, you know, with COVID and everybody being, you know, being home for that length of time, it was like, ‘Oh, so this is how other people live.’ You know, actually sleeping in your own bed every night, you know? And, you know, hopefully not feeling shitty from COVID, you know, or in the beginning, you know, it was pretty bad,” Perry states. “But you know, I mean, it really, really opens your eyes to like, you know, I mean, I don’t think I’ve gone a year without something on the calendar and having to be somewhere. So that’s kind of the, that’s the bigger picture, you know? I don’t know. I’ve got enough left in me. I still wanna do it, you know, but right now for this, for this project, I’m gonna be, you know, I’m gonna be taking it out and giving it up and, you know, I’m just glad I got these guys, you know, to open up enough time to come along. So, we’ll see what happens, you know?”
