Alex Warren, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae lead 2025 MTV VMAs Social Categories

MTV kicks off a week of 24/7 music videos across MTV2, MTV Live, MTV Classic & Pluto TV

Top 2025 MTV VMAs nominees Alex Warren, Sabrina Carpenter, and Tate McRae pick up new nods as the Social Categories are unveiled. Voting begins next week for Best Group and Song of the Summer via MTV’s Instagram Stories.

With social categories, McRae adds two nods while Warren, Carpenter, and Morgan Wallen add one each. Overall, Lady Gaga maintains her lead with 12, followed closely by Bruno Mars with 11, Kendrick Lamar with ten, Carpenter with nine, Rosé with eight, Ariana Grande and The Weeknd with seven apiece, McRae and Billie Eilish with six each, Charli XCX with five, Warren, Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus and Morgan Wallen with four each.

Fan voting for the Best Group across all genres will begin Tuesday, September 2nd at 11 am ET on @MTV Instagram Story with three rounds, bracket-style face-off and the final round tap to vote. Voting closes on Saturday, September 6th at 11 am ET.

The 2025 MTV VMAs are live coast-to-coast from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, September 7th at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT on the CBS Television Network, simulcast on MTV, and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S. LL Cool J will host the annual event.

Starting September 1st, MTV kicks off a week of 24/7 current and classic music videos across MTV2, MTV Live, MTV Classic, and Pluto TV (MTV Biggest Pop) to celebrate its legacy as the network that introduced the world to music videos. The lineup will feature 700+ videos, many airing for the first time in over a decade, curated into 12 themed categories and interstitials that celebrate music video fandom from iconic MTV personalities and the biggest names in music including Alex Warren, Benson Boone, Carmen Electra, Chappell Roan, Connor Wood, Dasha, Davis Durleson, Doja Cat, Johnny Knoxville, Jon Bon Jovi, MYA, Olivia Rodrigo, Paris Hilton, Pauly D, Steve-O, Teddy Swims, Wyclef Jean and many more. 2025 VMAs Week Sneak Peek.
