The multi-platinum global pop sensation shares powerful new dance-pop anthem
Ava Max is set to ignite the global pop music world once again with the premiere of her powerful new single, “Spot A Fake,” available via Atlantic Records. With its potent message about recognizing one’s own worth and rejecting insincerity, “Spot A Fake” is Max’s most personal dance-pop anthem thus far, detailing her own compelling story of betrayal and broken girl code. Inspired by moments that shook her inner circle, the song celebrates self-worth, authenticity, and the resilience to move forward. The irresistible track is produced by Grant Boutin and co-written by Max with Boutin, Lauren Mandel, and Salem Davern.
“Spot A Fake” is the latest smash to arrive during what has proven an incredible 2024 for Ava following this spring’s arrival of “My Oh My.” Produced by Inverness and co-written by Ava with J Bach, Sam Martin, and Charles Roberts Nelsen, the track is accompanied by an official music video directed by Hunter Moreno (Alex Warren) and choreographed by Matt Steffanina (Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, Jason Derulo, Snoop Dogg). “My Oh My” was also featured in Major League Baseball’s 2024 Opening Day coverage on the MLB Network and their affiliated social media accounts.
“My Oh My” continued a seemingly unstoppable string of dance-pop hits including Kygo + Ava Max’s “Whatever,” which has already earned over 150 million global streams since its January arrival. The track reached No. 1 in Kygo’s native Norway and the top 10 in several countries, including Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Sweden, and the UK.
“My Oh My” marked Max’s first solo single release since last year’s acclaimed sophomore album, Diamonds & Dancefloors. The album – which followed Ava’s RIAA platinum-certified blockbuster debut, 2020’s Heaven & Hell – is highlighted by such passionately self-assured singles as “Ghost,” “One of Us,” “Cold As Ice,” “Dancing’s Done,” “Weapons,” “Maybe You’re The Problem,” and “Million Dollar Baby,” the latter of which is joined by an official music video, directed by Andrew Donoho (Khalid, Janelle Monae, Paul McCartney).
Max’s “Choose Your Fighter” was among the fan favorites featured on Barbie The Album, Atlantic Records’ Grammy Award-winning, worldwide chart-topping musical companion to the critically acclaimed Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. In addition, 2023 saw Ava partner with Brazilian DJ Alok for the global dance hit, “Car Keys (Ayla).”
