Paul Shaffer Plus One features Joe Walsh, Sammy Hagar, Billy Gibbons, Buddy Guy, Donald Fagen, Spinal Tap’s Derek Smalls, Smokey Robinson and more

GRAMMY-winning musician, composer, author and EMMY-nominated television personality Paul Shaffer brings his popular SiriusXM radio show to AXS TV, as the network presents the series premiere of Paul Shaffer Plus One. The weekly 30-minute program kicks off its eight-episode inaugural season on Sunday, September 15th at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT.

Beloved for his role as David Letterman’s musical director and sidekick during the combined 33-year run of Late Night With David Letterman and Late Show With David Letterman, Shaffer has forever cemented his place in entertainment history, enjoying a celebrated career collaborating with some of music’s most influential artists. When he’s not performing with fellow industry icons, he’s welcoming them into his studio as guests on Paul Shaffer Plus One. The new series finds the multi-hyphenate star sitting down for candid conversations with his close friends and fellow legends, as they discuss their legacies, influences, and experiences in the music industry, and, when their conversation takes an organic turn, performing impromptu versions of some of their most enduring hits.

Season 1’s roster opens with a visit from guitar virtuoso Joe Walsh on September 15th, and also includes appearances by Hollies/CSN/CSNY’s Graham Nash (September 22nd); chart-topping rock showman Sammy Hagar (September 29th); ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons (October 6th); Steely Dan co-founder Donald Fagen (October 13th); blues pioneer Buddy Guy (October 20th); Spinal Tap bassist Derek Smalls, the beloved This Is Spinal Tap character portrayed by funnyman Harry Shearer (October 27th); and R&B superstar Smokey Robinson (November 3rd).

“AXS TV is proud to present the series premiere of Paul Shaffer Plus One,” states Evan Haiman, Vice President of Music Programming and Production, AXS TV. “The program is the perfect complement to our lineup, providing our viewers with even more of the high-quality music programming they’ve come to expect from the network. Many people know Paul from his run with David Letterman, but he’s also an acclaimed and award-winning musician with extensive knowledge and invaluable insight into the music industry. Paul Shaffer Plus One gives viewers a rare glimpse into the man behind the piano, as he sits down with an impressive slate of fellow legends—getting them to open up about their extraordinary lives and careers as only he can.”

Shaffer’s longtime manager, Panacea Entertainment Chairman Eric Gardner, is the executive producer for both the radio and the TV series. Haiman joins Gardner as the executive producer for the AXS TV shows.
