The band celebrates the album’s 25th anniversary
Barenaked Ladies’ fifth studio album, Maroon, is available in spatial audio across all streaming platforms that support Dolby Atmos.
Fresh off their 1998 chart-topping album, Stunt, Barenaked Ladies delved into the platinum-certified Maroon. Collaborating with legendary producer Don Was (The Rolling Stones, John Mayer, Brian Wilson), the album reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and featured hit songs like “Pinch Me,” “Too Little Too Late,” and “Falling for the First Time.”
“Making Maroon was one of my favorite recording experiences. It was a super creative and confident time for us. Hearing it in Atmos has been really cool too!! It puts a new spin on such a rich session,” shares frontman Ed Robertson.
“Pinch Me” has become a pop culture staple, featured in TV shows like Dawson’s Creek and Scrubs. The band also made a memorable on-screen performance of the song at the club P3 during an episode of Charmed. The song soared to No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains a huge fan favorite, a testament to its lasting power and a song that continues to resonate with audiences on every live tour. The hilarious music video, directed by Phil Harder (Prince, Foo Fighters, Matchbox 20), features the band getting stuck in a surreal, time-looping diner filled with synchronized, frozen customers.
Following the 2020 20th Anniversary Special Edition—which featured rarities, a double vinyl, and a deluxe digital edition—the ultimate Maroon package is complete in Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio. Spatial audio creates an immersive listening experience by placing instruments and vocals in a three-dimensional space, simulating how we hear sound in real life.
