The song turns 25 this year

Barenaked Ladies have shared a new video in celebration of the 25th anniversary of their Billboard No. 1 chart-topping, pop-culture-defining smash hit, “One Week.” The music video merges together modern-day innovation (AI technology, with prompts engineered by humans), with pop-ups of information and trivia throughout, “One Week – 25th Anniversary” pays homage to the iconic hit, while transporting viewers into a whimsical time-travel journey from 1998 to 2023 and beyond. The video is set to the live rendition of the iconic track from the band’s album BNL Rocks Red Rocks (Live), released in 2016.

The band teamed with Flux88 Studios for the clip. The company creates NFTs, virtual immersive environments, avatars and character creation, along with videos.

“We are honored to have collaborated with the Barenaked Ladies on a project that merges innovation and history in celebration of the 25th anniversary of ‘One Week.’ It’s a testament to the dedication, innovation, and creativity at the core of Barenaked Ladies,” shares Flux88 Studios President Kevin Briones.

The group recently released their highly acclaimed new album, In Flight. Produced by Grammy and Juno Award winning producer Eric Ratz and recorded at Noble Street Studios in Toronto, In Flight marks a new chapter for the band. Across 14 vibrant tracks, the band’s 18th studio album seamlessly captures the hallmark playfulness and keen observation BNL is known for while incorporating a resounding impression of growth and wisdom gained.

Also available is the 180-gram double white In Flight vinyl with two exclusive bonus Ed Robertson-penned tracks, “Hard to Do” and “Make Yourself Uncomfortable,” which brings the total number of songs on the album to 16. In Flight is now available digitally, or on LP, CD, and even a cassette, a nod to BNL’s 1991’s independent, platinum, five-song cassette EP, The Yellow Tape.

Over the course of 35 years, the beloved quartet has sold over 15 million records worldwide and built up an arsenal of hits such as “If I Had $1,000,000,” “One Week,” “Pinch Me,” and “The Big Bang Theory Theme.” Widely acknowledged as one of the best live acts on the planet, BNL has hosted a cruise, had their own Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor, and participated in the first-ever “space-to-earth musical collaboration” with astronaut Chris Hadfield. To date, BNL has amassed eight Juno Awards, garnered two Grammy nominations and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
