Ticket holders have been notified

Beck will no longer support the Arcade Fire’s upcoming North American leg of its We Tour. The pop star has not revealed his decision for backing out, but replaced Leslie Feist on the European leg after she stepped aside after two performances due to sexual misconduct allegations against frontman Win Butler in recent months.

In a lengthy Instagram statement on September 1st, Feist says she’s “claiming my responsibility now and going home” in regards to leaving the trek.

“This has ignited a conversation that is bigger than me, it’s bigger than my songs and it’s certainly bigger than any rock and roll tour,” Feist says. “As I tried to get my bearings and figure out my responsibility in this situation, I received dozens of messages from the people around me, expressing sympathy for the dichotomy I have been pushed into. To stay on tour would symbolize I was either defending or ignoring the harm caused by Win Butler and to leave would imply I was the judge and jury.”

Butler has maintained his innocence through the allegations, stating all alleged interactions were consensual.

Neither Beck nor Arcade Fire’s camps have addressed the issue.

Ticket holders were notified on Friday (Oct 14th) that Beck would not be supporting the North American dates that are set to kick off October 27th with back-to-back nights in Washington, DC. Arcade Fire has enlisted Haitian band Boukman Eksperyans to replace Beck.

Arcade Fire is on a headlining world tour in support of its latest album, We. Upon its release in May, the album stormed the charts to bring home the No. 1 on Billboard’s Top US Albums Sales, No. 1 in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands, plus Top 5 positions in Canada, Belgium, France, Germany and Switzerland. The album has also topped the US Rock, Alternative and Vinyl Billboard charts.

Beck recently covered Neil Young’s “Old Man” for inclusion of an NBC Sports ad that aired last month during NFL Sunday Night Football. It’s unclear if the song was recorded specifically for the broadcast or if it will appear on a forthcoming album.
