The pop star shared the news while on stage in England
Billie Eilish has announced a “very, very special” 3D collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker James Cameron. Eilish revealed the project during her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour concert in Manchester, England, tonight (Sat, July 19th), according to video circulating on social media.
“So you may have noticed there are more cameras than usual up here. I can’t say much about it, but what I can say is I’m working on something very, very special with somebody named James Cameron, and it’s gonna be in 3D, so take that as you will,” she says on night one of the four-night stand. “These four shows here in Manchester, you and me are part of a thing that I’m making with him… I’ll probably be wearing this exact outfit for like four days in a row.”
While specific details about the project remain scarce, Eilish hinted that the ongoing Manchester concerts, which include multiple shows at Co-op Live, are being filmed for the 3D production. She even mentioned that Cameron was in attendance on night one. This suggests the collaboration could be a 3D concert film, building on Eilish’s previous concert film, Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles.
Cameron, known for his pioneering work in 3D technology with blockbusters like Avatar and Titanic, is expected to bring his cinematic mastery to Eilish’s live performance. This partnership aims to push the boundaries of music and film integration, creating an immersive experience for audiences.
Representatives for Eilish have stated that more details will be released in the coming months. This collaboration marks a unique intersection of music and filmmaking, given Cameron’s expertise in visual effects and Eilish’s innovative approach to her artistry.
Since launching last September, Eilish has brought her tour to North America and Australia and is touring across Europe, the U.K., and Ireland. Following the Manchester shows, Eilish will headline 23 additional arena dates in Japan and the U.S. this fall. Produced by Live Nation, the newly added shows include two nights at Tokyo’s Saitama Super Arena on August 16-17, followed by a second U.S. leg this fall with stops in Miami, Orlando, Raleigh, New Orleans, Austin, and more. The tour will now span 106 dates, concluding on Sunday, November 23rd at Chase Center in San Francisco—more than a year after it first kicked off in fall 2024.
