The single holds steady at No. 3 on the Billboard Hard Rock chart for two consecutive weeks
Candlebox has announced that their highest-charting single “Far Behind” has peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hard Rock Digital Song Sales roster 30 years after its original release. The track holds steady at the No. 3 position going into the August 24th sales week. Originally released in April 1994 on the band’s eponymous debut album, “Far Behind” reached No. 4 and No. 7 on the Billboard Rock Tracks and Modern Rock Tracks and No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Candlebox’s latest feat follows the recent release of A Little Longer Goodbye (Tour Edition) via Roundhill Records on July 12th, the digital deluxe version of the album The Long Goodbye. The digital deluxe release features the 12 tracks on the record plus two bonus live songs, including “Elegante” and “Cellphone Jesus,” recorded at Club Amanda in Santiago, Chile on October 27, 2023, as well as the official launch of the single “Washed Up.” The band is also amid its successful routing with Bush and Jerry Cantrell on the Loaded: The Greatest Hits Tour.
“It amazes me that ‘Far Behind’ still echoes through the decades,” stats frontman Kevin Martin. “Its lyrics and melody are as poignant today as they were then. Thirty years later, it resonates with a new generation, proving that true artistry is timeless, capturing the complexities of life in a way that never fades. I am truly amazed.”
Emerging from Seattle’s burgeoning mid-90s grunge scene, Candlebox quickly found mainstream success with their deep, lyrically-driven melodies and big radio hooks, as evidenced by their massive hits “Far Behind,” “You” and “Cover Me,” which propelled their self-titled debut album, a defining record of the decade, to sell more than four million copies worldwide. Their follow-up album, Lucy, earned a platinum certification and solidified Candlebox as a tour de force in the thriving rock scene. While the commercial success of the first album played a pivotal role in the band’s trajectory to the top, it was their raw and unapologetically honest live performances that ultimately solidified their place among Seattle’s elite. In 1998, Candlebox released Happy Pills, which would be their last album before going on hiatus from 2000 to 2006. In 2008, the band reformed and released their fourth album, Into The Sun, and hit the road for the first time in ten years, touring extensively and releasing Alive In Seattle, a live album that included tracks from every era of their career. 2016 marked the triumphant return of Candlebox with the release of Disappearing In Airports, a more classic rock-driven album. Singles “Vexatious” and “Supernova” drove the album to debut at No. 9 on the Billboard Charts and spurred multiple US and international tours including major festival appearances at Carolina Rebellion, Welcome to Rockville, and Lollapalooza Chile. The band released their album, Wolves, in 2021, and then a live, acoustic album, Live at The Neptune in 2023. Later that year, Candlebox unveiled The Long Goodbye, which was slated to be their final album, and The Maverick Years, a seven-LP boxed set.
