The new song is a standalone track

Charli XCX & Sam Smith release “In The City,” a new standalone track and BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record.

The song is an unforgettable dance track produced by ILYA, AG Cook, Omer Fedi, George Daniel and Charli XCX, and is available digitally via Atlantic Records.

“The song is about finding the people you truly love and connect with through wild nights out and partying in magical places. It’s about feeling accepted, the magnificence of being welcomed into queer spaces and those once-in-a-lifetime people you get to meet when you’re there,” Charli XCX shares.

Remixes will come from DJ Heartstring on October 28th with more to follow.

Charli released her latest and fifth studio album Crash on March 18, 2022, the last album of her record deal which she signed at 16 years of age. The project reached No. 1 in the UK and Australia, and No. 7 in the US. Following the global success of the album, Charli toured North America, Europe and the UK shortly afterward, including a sold out headline at The Greek Theatre in LA, two nights at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC and a sold out Alexandra Palace London show. In addition, the Crash campaign included performances by Charli on Saturday Night Live and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, as well two Coachella main stage performances to close the era. Charli also launched her own podcast, Best Song Ever, in collaboration with the BBC.

Most recently, Charli’s services to music were recognized as she was awarded the Visionary award at the Ivor Novello’s in May 2023. She is currently working on a new album campaign alongside a number of film opportunities including writing and producing the original soundtrack for the upcoming A24 feature Mother Mary with Jack Antonoff and Anne Hathaway; starring in the remake of the cult classic movie Faces of Death; co-writing the music for Emma Seligman and Rachel Sennott’s Bottoms movie score; executive producing Benny Drama’s Amazon Original Overcompensating, produced by A24; and writing an original song for the Barbie: The Movie soundtrack titled “Speed Drive,” which was the biggest growing song globally on Spotify on the week of release.
