Young was taken into custody following an incident with officers

Country star Chris Young was arrested Monday night (Jan 22nd) after he allegedly engaged Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) officers in a Midtown bar in Nashville.

According to the arrest affidavit, agents were completing an identification check around 8:30 pm at the Tin Roof on Demonbreun Street when the 38-year-old Young was sitting at a bar with his ID over his head. After checking his ID, Young followed the agents and began asking questions before recording them. After the officers completed their investigation, they went next door to Dawg House to do the same when a group of people, including Young, followed. Young began talking to the bartender and patrons but confronted officers and prevented them from leaving the establishment.

“While walking out the door Mr. Young put his hands out to stop me from leaving the bar and struck me on the shoulder,” the arrest report reads. “I then pushed Mr. Young to create distance since I had no idea of who Mr. Young was or what he had.”

The incident caused the atmosphere in the bar to turn hostile, requiring two offices to physically contain Young. The report says Young’s eyes were bloodshot and watery and had slurred speech.

Young was charged with disorderly conduct, assaulting an officer, and resisting arrest. He has since been released from police custody. Young has yet to comment on the matter.

Earlier this month, Young announced that his highly anticipated ninth studio album, Young Love & Saturday Nights, would be released on March 22nd via Sony Music Nashville. Led by the Billboard and Mediabase top 40 and rising title track “Young Love & Saturday Nights,” written by Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley and Josh Thompson with a posthumous songwriting credit to David Bowie, the project is Young’s first new album since 2021’s Famous Friends. The forthcoming record also includes previously released sides, “Looking For You” and “All Dogs Go To Heaven.”
