Cody Johnson drops studio version of ‘Travelin’ Soldier’

The song drops ahead of Veterans Day

Multi-platinum-selling artist Cody Johnson has recorded and released a studio version of one of his most requested songs, “Travelin’ Soldier” via CoJo Music/Warner Music Nashville. Cody, an avid supporter of all branches of the military, as well as all first responders, intentionally planned the release ahead of Veterans Day to honor the military for their willingness to serve in both wartime and in peacetime.

“It’s been three years since we released an acoustic cover of “Travelin’ Soldier.” The fans responded so enthusiastically and began requesting it during our live shows so it’s remained on the set list. I had no idea that it was going to give me the opportunity to hear, see, and bring words to y’all’s stories. I knew at some point, when the time felt right, we needed to record it in the studio. And that time is now COJO Nation!”

Johnson’s current radio single, “The Fall,” is the second single off his Leather Deluxe Edition album and was written by Bobby Pinson, Jeremy Stover & Ray Fulcher.

Cody has four nominations for the upcoming 59th Annual CMA Awards, including Entertainer of the Year, his first-ever with the CMAs, Male Vocalist of the Year, as well as Music Event and Video of the Year with Carrie Underwood for their two-week No. 1 hit “I’m Gonna Love You.” The CMA Awards will be broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 19th, on ABC and the next day on Hulu.

Johnson was forced to cancel the remainder of his 2025 tour dates last month due to a ruptured eardrum. He will return to the road in early 2026 with guests Clint Black, Randy Houser, Scotty McCreer,y Kip Moore, Ian Munsick, Jon Pardi, Drew Baldridge, Carter Faith, Wyatt Flores, Walker Montgomery, and Emily Ann Roberts on select dates.
