The album will be available this fall
Following the news of his self-titled debut album last week, multi-platinum-certified indie pop artist Dayglow reveals the new project will be released on September 13th and celebrates the official announcement by dropping his latest single “Cocoon” via Mercury Records.
Dayglow embodies exactly who Sloan Struble is as an artist and creative, and acts as a proper introduction into the bright and colorful Dayglow world. The ten-track debut record was solely written, performed, recorded, produced, and mixed by Struble in his Malibu home studio.
“When I was 18 years old, I made my mixtape Fuzzybrain. I was a pretty introverted kid from a reasonably small town in Texas, so I didn’t expect much to happen ‘commercially’ for the record—I just made it for my own enjoyment, really,” he shares. “As a fan of the 2010’s indie music scene (MGMT, The Strokes, Phoenix, Passion Pit, etc.), I wanted to see what kind of album I could make completely alone in my bedroom. So, out of the quest to make something I loved, Dayglow was born. It was a clear reflection of myself at that time. It was pure, naive, goofy, guitar-driven indie-pop made to be played live by a 5-piece band (that I didn’t even have yet).”
He continues, “Since then, I’ve fully become Dayglow, and my world has become an odd culmination of everything I didn’t think I’d ever have. But I still feel like I haven’t properly introduced myself. So with this new album, I view it as a debut. Self titled, big shabang. The past three records have shown who I was growing up, who my influences were, who I was when I was a kid, so they felt more like mixtapes. Dayglow is finally entering the world in its purest form with clarity and confidence. I want this album to define exactly what Dayglow looks like, sounds like, and feels like.”
The album release will be accompanied by a North American headlining run this fall. Produced by Live Nation and kicking off in September, Dayglow: The Tour will see Struble perform in major venues across the US, Canada, and Mexico, including Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on September 22nd, New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom on October 11th, Toronto’s History on October 13th, Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium on November 17th, and more. Not to mention, the Austin, TX native will wrap the tour with three back-to-back hometown shows in various venues across the city. Fans can see Struble perform at Parish—the first Austin venue he ever played in—on November 21st, followed by shows at Scoot Inn on November 22nd and finally Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater on November 23rd.
