New vinyl singles collector’s edition box set will be available on October 6th

Sony Music Entertainment will continue the Depeche Mode 12-inch vinyl singles project with the release of Delta Machine | The 12″ Singles on October 6th.

Delta Machine | The 12″ Singles, a collector’s edition deluxe box set, contains six 12-inch vinyl discs spotlighting the singles featured on Delta Machine, Depeche Mode’s 13th studio album and first for Columbia Records. Originally released on Mute/Columbia in March 2013, Delta Machine presented fans with “Heaven,” released as the album’s lead single in January 2013, “Soothe My Soul,” released May 2013, and “Should Be Higher,” released October 2013.

The Delta Machine | The 12″ Singles box set includes replicas of the original 12-inch single releases plus three newly compiled discs featuring remixes, dub mixes, instrumental versions, live sessions and radio mixes of the singles as well as the bonus track “Goodbye (Gesaffelstein Remix).”

Depeche Mode recorded their Delta Machine album in 2012 at Sound Design in Santa Barbara, California and Jungle City in New York, working for the third time with producer Ben Hillier, who’d helmed the group’s two previous studio albums: 2005’s Playing The Angel and 2009’s Sounds Of The Universe. Delta Machine was mixed by the legendary audio engineer Flood, who’d worked with DM on 1990’s Violator and 1993’s Songs of Faith and Devotion. Following the album’s release, Depeche Mode launched the Delta Machine Tour, which opened in Nice, France, on May 4, 2013, and concluded in Moscow on March 7, 2014.

Like many of the band’s previous releases, Delta Machine expanded Depeche Mode’s vision and repertoire while continuing their tradition of issuing monumental 12-inch singles to supplement and complement their albums.

From their earliest days as a band, Depeche Mode has championed 12-inch vinyl, embracing the format’s singular power and potential for innovation. The 12-inch single allowed the band to explore new sonic possibilities while the tactile real-world beauty of physical packaging gave Depeche Mode room to develop their consistently sophisticated and commanding design aesthetic. Depeche Mode has used its singles discography as a means of offering fans the opportunity to enjoy left-field remixes, rare B-sides, standout concert performances and other exclusive delights.

Sony Music Entertainment released the first two box sets in the Depeche Mode 12-inch singles series–Speak & Spell | The Singles and A Broken Frame | The Singles–in August 2018 with the second batch–Construction Time Again | The 12″ Singles and Some Great Reward | The 12″ Singles–arriving in December 2018. SME released Depeche Mode’s Black Celebration | The 12″ Singles and Music For The Masses | The 12″ Singles in May 2019. 2020 saw the release of Violator | The 12″ Singles in July and Songs Of Faith And Devotion | The 12″ Singles in October. The ninth collection in the series, Ultra | The 12″ Singles was released in September 2021 with the tenth volume, Exciter | The 12″ Singles, arriving in June 2022. The 11th volume in the series, Playing The Angel | The 12″ Singles, was released in November 2022. The most recent in the series–Sounds Of The Universe | The 12″ Singles–was released in August 2023.

Each box set in the series contains the singles from an individual Depeche Mode album pressed on audiophile-quality 12-inch vinyl. The artwork for the exterior of each of the box sets draws on iconography inspired by the original releases, while the vinyl sleeves themselves feature the original single artwork.

Delta Machine | The 12″ Singles is the chronological 13th volume in SME’s Depeche Mode 12″ Singles Series with plans to release a Spirit box set in a similar deluxe audio-grade collector’s edition.

Depeche Mode is currently on the European/UK leg of their Momento Mori World Tour in support of the group’s 15th studio album Memento Mori, released in March 2023.
