Fletch was 60 years old

On day that has already seen the death of longtime Yes drummer Alan White, word has come from the Depeche Mode camp that founding band member and keyboardist Andy “Fletch” Fletcher has passed away at the age of 60.

“We are shocked and filled with overwhelming sadness with the untimely passing of our dear friend, family member and bandmate Andy ‘Fletch’ Fletcher,” Depeche Mode shared on social media. “Fletch had a true heart of gold, and was always there when you needed support, a lively conversation, a good laugh or a cold pint.

“Our hearts are with his family, and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and respect their privacy in this difficult time.”

Formed in 1981, Depeche Mode gained critical and commercial acclaim around the world, both in the studio and on the road. The band has released 13 studio albums which reached the Top 10 charts in more than 20 countries including the US, UK, Germany and France. The group has sold more than 100 million records sold worldwide and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020.

Rhino is set to release Exciter | The 12″ Singles collector’s edition box set on June 10th. The box contains eight 12-inch vinyl discs presenting four singles — “Dream On,” “I Feel Loved,” “Freelove,” and “Goodnight Lovers” — with B-sides, remixes, instrumentals, acoustic versions and other recordings contemporaneous to Depeche Mode’s tenth studio album, Exciter, originally released in May 2001.
