The band preps for a fall 2025 tour, documentary, and video catalog reissue
Devo is prepping for a summer and fall packed with exciting activity as they celebrate 50+ years of De-evolution! The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees recently announced their co-headlining Cosmic De-Evolution Tour with the legendary group, The B-52s, which will treat new wave fans across the country starting this September. The 11-date run will continue to serve as the band’s concert farewell tour and will kick off in Toronto before wrapping in Houston this November.
In the meantime, fans can don their energy domes and prepare for a tour with the release of the band’s much-awaited documentary, Devo, this August. The highly anticipated film premiered at the acclaimed Sundance Film Festival in 2024 and was met with rave reviews and packed audiences. With such an overwhelming positive response, Devo was quickly picked up by Netflix and will hit the streaming service on August 19th. The documentary explores the band’s formation, rise to fame, and their lasting cultural impact across not only music, but activism and art. Fans will get a glimpse behind the scenes as the film includes rare archival footage and interviews, promising to be a definitive look at one of the most ground-breaking bands of the 20th century.
If that wasn’t enough, Devo and Primary Wave will be celebrating this milestone with the launch of their bi-weekly YouTube series – Devolutionary Times – which will premiere newly restored Devo videos and films for fans to enjoy. Dipping into the archives as far back as 1976, the videos will roll out chronologically starting today (Mon, July 7th) with the release of “The Truth About De-Evolution!” As true pioneers in the music video medium, Devo made their mark utilizing some of the most cutting-edge technology of the time. Now, for the first time, their videos have been restored in high definition for fans to enjoy this summer. In addition to the newly restored videos, the series will also include an exclusive behind-the-scenes companion piece, which is set to feature members of the band as they walk fans through Devo’s groundbreaking use of technology with never-before-heard stories about the making of each video. When asked about the new YouTube series, Gerald Casale raved that “the films and videos are newly restored to pristine quality ready to jump off your laptops or mobile devices! Get ready for a Cornucopia of Devo!!!!”
