Dierks Bentley, The Band Loula to release haunting live ballad

“Get Down on Your Knees and Pray” will be available digitally on September 3rd

Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Dierks Bentley and rising country duo The Band Loula will release a powerful, roots-infused live version of the Bill Monroe-penned “Get Down On Your Knees and Pray” tomorrow (Wed, Sept 3rd). Recorded on Bentley’s Broken Branches Tour, the summer dates drew packed crowds at arenas and amphitheaters across the country, where fans were treated to the collaboration each night.

“I first heard this song sung live by the Del McCoury Band,” Bentley shares. “It’s an old Bill Monroe song that I’ve always loved, but I never would have thought it was something I’d add to my own set. However, that was before I met The Band Loula! We worked up a really cool, swampy arrangement of it that leans on their delta bluegrass-y sound. I’m so glad we were able to make this live recording and have something that lives on past this summer.”

“There aren’t enough words to describe our summer out with Dierks and Zach. We started the tour as newbies and left with an entire family of folks that we’ll cherish for the rest of our careers. As sad as we are to see it end, we’re grateful this collaboration with Dierks gets to endure beyond the tour,” The Band Loula adds. “Those who got to experience it live get a chance to hear it again, and those who couldn’t make it will get a taste of our spin on an old gospel bluegrass tune.”

Bentley officially wrapped his 30-city trek this past weekend, capping off a run with a return to New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden. Launched in June, the tour brought Bentley to packed crowds across the country. Each night featured a dynamic, career-spanning setlist like “What Was I Thinkin’,” “I Hold On” and “Drunk On A Plane,” as well as standout performances of new songs from his acclaimed new album Broken Branches, including “She Hates Me” and “Well Well Whiskey.”

Released in June, Bentley’s acclaimed 11th studio album is rooted in raw honesty and storytelling, embracing life’s outliers and underdogs with songs about resilience, change and connection. The 11-track collection features a cross-generational lineup of collaborators, including John Anderson, Riley Green, Miranda Lambert, and Stephen Wilson Jr., and is a bold reaffirmation of Bentley’s heartfelt grit paired with standout musicianship. After more than 20 years on country’s family tree, the superstar’s new album follows eight No. 1 albums, 22 No. 1 songs, and over 9.5 billion global streams, plus 15 Grammy nominations and membership in the historic Grand Ole Opry. Bentley recently launched the Broken Branches Fund, a multi-year initiative in partnership with Music Health Alliance to provide mental health support for the music industry’s creative and touring professionals. Continuing the path built from the ground up, as an entrepreneur, he has four locations of the gastropub and live music venue Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row, has a Flag & Anthem lifestyle collection Desert Son and recently released Row 94 – a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey crafted with only “three ingredients and the truth” at Kentucky’s Green River Distilling Co.

North Georgia natives and longtime friends, The Band Loula, featuring Malachi Mills and Logan Simmons, is poised for a big breakout this year following the release of their acclaimed debut EP, Sweet Southern Summer, via Warner Music Nashville. Produced by John Osborne of Brothers Osborne, with additional production from Greg Bieck (Little Big Town, etc), the EP spotlights the duo’s powerful storytelling and unique swampgrass sound and consists of six tracks including their standout single, “Running Off The Angels.” The Band Loula continues to garner widespread attention across the industry with their undeniable chemistry and near-blood harmonies, and recently made their Grand Ole Opry debut, for which they received a standing ovation. Powerful live performers, The Band Loula has spent much of the past few years touring alongside artists such as Dierks Bentley, Zach Top, Brothers Osborne, Ashley McBryde, Paul Cauthen, Elle King and Brent Cobb, and will join Lukas Nelson on the road this fall.
