Dolly Parton’s sister asks for prayers for beloved country legend

The country legend has postponed planned shows until next year

Dolly Parton recently announced that she is facing some health challenges that have led to the postponement of her Las Vegas residency. Last month, the 79-year-old country legend postponed her planned December 2025 performances to September 2026, stating she had to undergo “a few procedures” that were not plastic surgery-related.

In her statement, Parton did not disclose the exact nature of the health issue, but she used her trademark humor to joke that it was time for her “100,000-mile check-up.”

Earlier in September, Parton was forced to miss an appearance at Dollywood. In a video message, she explained that she was recovering from a kidney stone that had caused an infection and was advised by her doctor not to travel.

Today (Tues, Oct 7th), Dolly’s sister, Freida Parton, posted on social media asking fans to become “prayer warriors” for the country icon amidst her health struggles.

“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” Freida writes. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been [led] to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me. She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”

Despite these health setbacks, Parton has assured fans that she is not quitting the business, stating, “God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now.”

She mentioned that while she needs time to get “show ready,” she will still be able to work on her other projects from Nashville.

The health issues follow a difficult year for Parton, as her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, passed away in March 2025.
