Sheeran performs largest American stop ever

Global superstar Ed Sheeran has made history by breaking MetLife Stadium’s all-time concert record. More than 89k fans were in attendance of Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour stop on Sunday night (June 11th). It marked the second of two sold out nights at the famed New Jersey venue and the pop star’s biggest show ever in America.

“Played my biggest ever USA show today and broke the ticket record at MetLife,” Sheeran writes. “I really don’t take this for granted, my dad told me if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere, and today was really reminiscing about playing my first show at mercury lounge in 2012 to 130 people. It feels like a dream today.”

Sheeran kicked off the trek earlier this year with stadium dates throughout the UK, Europe and Ireland before returning to Australia and New Zealand in February/March 2023. The North American leg kicked off in April with 14 stops coinciding the Subtract Tour, a run of intimate shows in theaters and auditoriums. The trek runs through September.

Last month, Sheeran released a studio recording of “Life Goes On” featuring Luke Combs via Atlantic Records. Sheeran and Combs revealed the surprise release on social media shortly after their show-stopping, live performance of the track on the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards.
