Singer will promote new album remotely

Ed Sheeran has tested positive for COVID, and will isolate at home, he shares on Instagram. The pop superstar was set to bring promoting his fourth studio album, = (Equals)this week, but will now conduct interviews and performances remotely.

“Hey guys, quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for COVID, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines. It means that I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in-person commitments for, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house.”

Sheeran is set to join Apple Music’s Zane Lowe for a live performance and discussion for a special Apple Music “First Listen” global livestream celebration on Thursday, October 28th at 8:30 pm BST/12:30 pm PST/3:30 pm EST only on Apple Music. There’s no word how that will be handled as of press time.

Sheeran is also a Mega Mentor on The Voice this week, but that’s been pretaped and won’t be affected.

However, a scheduled November 13th performance on SNL is uncertain as of this writing.

After four years in the making, Sheeran is back with the fourth installment of his symbol album series following his full length debut +, breakthrough x, and record setting ÷. Equals is preceded by hit singles “Bad Habits” and “Shivers.”

The project will be released on CD and LP on October 29th through Atlantic Records. An Amazon Exclusive translucent red vinyl will also be available.

Sheeran will embark on The Mathematics Tour in 2022 with the first leg set for stadiums throughout The UK, Europe and Ireland. Shows are currently scheduled from May through September with additional dates expected to be announced.
