Special guests include Amyl and the Sniffers and the Meanies
Foo Fighters will return to Australia next month with a history-making performance at Geelong’s (VIC) GMHBA Stadium on Friday, March 4th. Frontier Touring is promoting the event that sees the band perform the country’s full-capacity stadium show since the pandemic began in March 2020.
The 12-time GRAMMY winning band will arrive in Australia next week, with this exclusive, one-off concert – Foo Fighters’ first performance down under since 2018. This will be the first time a full-capacity stadium show by any international music artist has taken place in Australia since the COVID pandemic first hit back in March 2020.
Tickets to the exclusive one-off concert go on sale Friday, February 25th at noon AEDT via Frontier Touring.
News of Foo Fighters’ upcoming Geelong concert was announced in partnership with the Victorian Government’s contemporary live music major event Always Live – a new, statewide celebration of contemporary live music taking place later this year. Bringing together icons of Australia’s music scene with emerging local talent and some of the best global acts on the planet, the Always Live program will feature shows of all scales and styles, created and curated for Victoria’s special venues, places and stages. Supported by the Victorian Government, the impetus for Always Live was initially conceived by legendary former Mushroom Group Chairman Michael Gudinski.
The rockers will be joined in Geelong by very special guests Amyl and The Sniffers – whose 2021 album Comfort to Me debuted at No. 2 in Australia, No. 21 in the UK, and No. 18 in the US, and was BBC6’s Album of the Day – as well as Melbourne punk royalty The Meanies, who’ve been kicking out the jams for three decades now, most recently heard on 2020’s Desperate Measures.
In May, the band embarks on an extensive US tour, marking their most extensive North American run since the February 2021 release of the band’s 10th album, Medicine at Midnight via Roswell/RCA. Other 2022 dates include a headlining performance at the fourth annual Innings Festival in Tempe, AZ on February 26th, Welcome to Rockville 2022 in Daytona Beach, FL running May 19-22, and Boston Calling from May 27-29th.
The Foos will release its first-ever horror comedy film, Studio 666, on February 25th in theaters nationwide. In the film, the legendary rock band Foo Fighters move into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock and roll history to record their much anticipated tenth studio album. Once in the house, Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band.
