Dive Bar Tour resumes after a year and a half

Garth Brooks is resuming his Dive Bar Tour in Salt Lake City on July 16th, one night before he plays a sold out show at Rice-Eccles Stadium which broke Ticketmaster’s record for fastest stadium sell out in US history with more than 50k tickets sold in less than 30 minutes. Brooks made the announcement on his Facebook Live series, Inside Studio G, on Monday (June 28th).

“I gotta tell ya, stadiums are fun, but I think dive bars may be even more fun for me,” Brooks shares. “The band will love it because the band’s never gotten to do a dive bar in the same city as they do a stadium tour in, so this will be fun.”

The Dive Bar Tour resumes on July 16th at The Westerner in SLC with the stadium stop the next night on July 17th. Per usual for the Dive Bar stops, tickets can only be obtained through country radio in local markets where the Dive Bar Tour plays. The first two pair of tickets will be given away to lucky callers tomorrow morning (Tues, June 29th) on KSOP, the radio sponsor for this Dive Bar Tour stop. Brooks will be chatting with the station at 7:30 am local time to give more details.

“We’re all gonna be in a condensed little room, so I’m gonna need everybody to get out their [COVID vaccination] cards, and bring their masks, do all that stuff, because we have to keep this thing all good and safe for everybody in there. Have some fun and do it,” Brooks states.

This is the eighth Dive Bar Tour stop since Brooks began the trek in summer of 2019. The tour was initially set to be seven stops in between stadium dates, but was expanded by popular demand after more than 2,500 dive bars have been nominated by the fans since the kickoff. The first was at Joe’s on Weed Street in Chicago in July 2019. The second was at Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, CA in August 2019. The third was at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, TX in September 2019. The fourth one was The Barn in Sanford, FL in October 2019. The fifth stop was at The Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown, OH, also in October 2019. The sixth concert was at Prospectors in Mt. Laurel, NJ just outside of Philadelphia in December 2019 with the seventh one at Six String in Foxborough, MA in February 2020.

The Dive Bar Tour is inspired by Brooks’ “Dive Bar” single featuring Blake Shelton. The track was the most added song at country radio upon its debut and is taken from Brooks’ latest studio album Fun. It’s the duo’s his first musical collaboration together. Upon its release, the “Dive Bar” video amassed more than 26k views in 72 hours.

Brooks is set to resume The Garth Brooks Stadium Tour on July 10th with a sold out show in Las Vegas, marking the first live event at Allegiant Stadium, and first show back since being sidelined by COVID. Last week, Brooks broke the entertainment record for Nissan Stadium in Nashville by selling more than 56k tickets sold. The Garth Brooks Stadium Tour treks to his home turf of Tennessee on Saturday, July 31st for his first-ever Nissan Stadium show with Brooks promising a special announcement about Nashville on the July 5th edition of Inside Studio G.
