Brooks teases project on Facebook Live

Garth Brooks is teasing that a duets album is coming this fall. While being careful not unveil too much information early, the country superstar says it’s not the long-awaited project he and wife Trisha Yearwood have discussed doing together since the late 90s.

“What’s comin’ will come late in this year, but it’s cool. When you talk about new music, it’s comin’. When you talk about the duets record, it’s comin’. Maybe not with Trisha Yearwood, but that’s the fun of it all,” Brooks says during his weekly Facebook Live series, Inside Studio G on Monday (Feb 20th). “I will tell you this — the duets record that’s coming is not just of The Queen [Yearwood]. The Queen is in there, of course, because you can’t do [duets] without her. It’s been fun so far. It’ll be a blast to finish them up.”

He further teases that a newly surfaced live recording between he and Yearwood during the 90s will be included on this year’s duets project.

“So on this duets record coming out. I will give one spoiler, tip away or whatever. There was a recording that I’ve talked about forever that nobody thought there was a recording of. And it came to surface, and it was done live out of — I’m gonna say, either San Jose or Sacramento back in the 90s, but when you hear this woman sing, holy cow. She’s just unbridled! She’s crazy!”

Further details are expected later this year with Brooks not squashing the idea of his and Yearwood’s joint project.

“We’ve kinda accumulated a good number of [duets] so far. So I think if this happens, what you’ll see is almost like a Greatest Hits [album] with two or three songs added to it,” he says.

Brooks, who uses Facebook Live to answer fan-submitted questions via social media, also shares that his forthcoming Friends In Low Places entertainment complex in Downtown Nashville has a “first date” opening for July 2023. However, the Oklahoma native admits he’s new to the restaurant business and has learned that “first dates” are often missed and “wouldn’t be surprised” if the opening is more towards the fall.

Brooks is set to take on Sin City with the Garth Brooks/Plus ONE Vegas residency kicking off in May 2023 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Brooks sold out all dates of the 2023 performances within the first day of going on sale in November 2022 and has confirmed an extension into 2024. The new shows will be announced in May of 2023 around the opening of the residency.
