The first posthumously-created duets album reimagines Campbell’s history-marking farewell album

Big Machine Records and Surfdog Records release the fourth advanced track from Glen Campbell Duets – Ghost on the Canvas Session, the duet album that reimagines Campbell’s critically acclaimed, history-making farewell album Ghost on the Canvas. Hope Sandoval, lead singer of the legendary alt rock band Mazzy Star, lends her voice to “The Long Walk Home” to create a unique take on the poignant song written by Campbell and Julian Raymond about his journey with Alzheimer’s and reconciliation with his mortality. Nearly seven years after Campbell succumbed to the disease, the project brings together Campbell’s past collaborators, friends and admirers (who are legends in their own right) to create a one-of-a-kind tribute to Glen and his emotional album.

“Glen and I listened to a couple of different Mazzy Star songs while we were preparing to record the Meet Glen Campbell album and after listening to ‘Mary of Silence’ he said ‘I can’t do better than that,’” shares producer and co-writer Julian Raymond. “He greatly admired Hope’s talent. Her vocal on ‘The Long Walk Home’ is just stunning and beautiful, you really feel the emotion of the song.”

“It’s been a great honor to have been invited to sing with Glen on this stunning song, ‘The Long Walk Home,’” says Sandoval. “His voice is captivatingly beautiful. He is by far one of the best Country music artists and vocalists of all time.”

Following one of the most illustrious careers in Country music, including 64 albums and countless awards, Campbell shocked the world with an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. While battling the illness, he created Ghost On The Canvas, a bittersweet and sentimental swan song of an album that tackles the range of emotions associated with such a final diagnosis and acceptance of fate and gives hope.

Beloved by so many, a group of some of the most gifted artists and musicians lent their talents to this project including Carole King, Sting, Eric Church, Eric Clapton, Dolly Parton, Brian Wilson, Linda Perry, Daryl Hall, X, Elton John, Dave Stewart of Eurythmics, Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Chris Issak, Wendy Melvoin of Prince and the Revolution, Rick Neilsen of Cheap Trick, Steve Hunter of Lou Reed, The Dandy Warhols, Chris Chaney, Jason Faulkner Jr., Kim Bullard, Josh Freese of The Foo Fighters, Vinny Caliuta, Marti Rifkin, Dick Dale, and Tim Pierce.

The project is produced by Dave Kaplan and Julian Raymond and executive produced by Scott Borchetta and Scott Seine.
