Event celebrates 10th anniversary
Organizers of The Governors Ball Music Festival in New York have announced a COVID-19 health policy for the 2021 event. Founders Entertainment follows the likes of Live Nation, AEG Presents, Danny Wimmer Presents and others to enforce proof of full vaccination or negative COVID test before entering.
“Safety is always the number one priority at Governors Ball, and as such, a full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result will be required to attend the festival,” the statement reads. “For patrons who are not fully vaccinated, a negative COVID-19 test result must be obtained within 72 hours (3 days) of each day they attend the event.”
The 2021 Governors Ball Music Festival will celebrate the return of live music, and 2021 also marks the 10th anniversary of the festival after being postponed from last year, a major milestone for an event that originated as a shared pipe-dream between New Yorkers in their early 20s who wanted to see their city play host to a music festival on par with the world’s best live music events. It’ll be held Friday, September 24th through Sunday, September 26th at the Citi Field complex in Queens.
The festival will mark the milestone with an incredible lineup of 60+ performing artists including Billie Eilish, Post Malone, A$AP ROCKY, J Balvin, DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Ellie Goulding, Leon Bridges, 21 Savage, Young Thug, Portugal. The Man., Burna Boy, Future Islands, Phoebe Bridgers, Jamie XX, Carly Rae Jepsen, Big Thief, Bleachers, and many more.
Food and beverage options have also been shared. All weekend long festival patrons can refuel with delicious eats and sweets from some of the best establishments New York City’s world-renowned food scene has to offer including A Taste of New York delivered by Grubhub. Hungry fans can skip the lines and order some of their favorite New York bites from the comfort of the Grubhub Refuel Station. They need only take a seat, scan their table’s unique QR code to open the Grubhub app, browse the list of participating vendors, and place their order. Then they can sit back, relax, and let Grubhub bring their order directly to them.
All VIP, 3-Day GA, and Saturday GA tickets are sold out. A limited number of Friday and Sunday GA tickets are available now. Tickets for the just announced Gov Ball After Dark shows, featuring late night performances from Freddie Gibbs, Muna, The Brothers Macklovich, Earthgang, Amaarae, Bartees Strange and more, are on sale now via Ticketmaster.
