Stamps are available beginning January 12th

The British Royal Mail is honoring Iron Maiden with collectible stamps. The collection will be available January 12th and feature eight stamps of the band live throughout their career and four of their mascot Eddie.

The stamps reveal the story behind the heavy metal heroes’ rise from London pub rockers to global music legends.

“We were all absolutely astounded — in a good way — when we heard first about the commemorative project, and equally pretty much speechless when we saw the stamps for the very first time,” shares founding bassist Steve Harris. “They look superb and I think they really capture the essence and energy of Maiden. We’re all very proud that the Royal Mail has chosen to honor the band’s legacy like this and we know our fans will feel the same way.”

The stamp set celebrates Iron Maiden’s live performances, featuring photos of the members of the band from their worldwide tours over the years including Bruce Dickinson at Hammersmith, Odeon, London from 1983; Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Steve Harris in Pamplona, September 1988; Dave Murray, Bruce Dickinson and Janick Gers in Rio de Janeiro in 2001; Iron Maiden at Twickenham Stadium, London 2008; Nicko McBrain in Quito in 2009; Steve Harris in Vancouver in 2010; Adrian Smith and Steve Harris in Helsinki in 2018; and Bruce Dickinson sword fighting with Eddie in Birmingham in 2018.

Images on the stamps include Iron Maiden Eddie from cover of the band’s debut album, “The Trooper” Eddie featured on one of Iron Maiden’s greatest hits and more recently the logo for their award-winning Trooper beer, “Aces High” Eddie reimagined as a fighter pilot for a song honoring the RAF servicemen who defended Britain during the Second World War, and last but not least Senjutsu Eddie inspired as a katana-wielding warrior flashing his blades, from the band’s most recent album. The backdrop of the sheet is taken from Iron Maiden’s first official live album, Live After Death (1985).

A variety of collectibles are available to purchase. They include a highly collectible keepsake featuring the platinum-layered Eddie Stamp Sheet packaged in an Iron Maiden flight case. This stunning souvenir honors the band’s long-serving mascot with four stamps depicting Eddie through the decades. Presented with a certificate of authenticity and limited to 666, a nod to Iron Maiden’s classic 1982 album The Number of the Beast.

Other offerings include an Iron Maiden Eddie Press Sheet, framed collectibles and more.

The Royal Mail has paid tribute to Paul McCartney, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, and Queen.
