Jelly Roll to guest star on CBS’ ‘Fire Country’

The episodes on April 11th

Jelly Roll is set to make his character acting debut on an upcoming episode of the CBS drama series Fire Country. The Grammy-nominated country singer/songwriter will guest star in the April 11th episode, titled “Fire and Ice,” as an ex-convict. Nearly parallel to his real life, Jelly will portray Noah, a healthcare worker and former convict who is in the process of turning his life around.

In spring 2023, Kane Brown made his acting debut on the weekly procedural drama as Robin, a train-hopping vagabond who volunteers to help firefighters recover victims after a train crash. He appeared in the 18th episode of season one, while Jelly appears in the 17th episode of season three.

Jelly, who was born Jason DeFord, lived a life of crime from 14 through his 20s. DeFord was arrested multiple times on various charges and felonies, including possession with the intent to distribute and aggravated robbery. He began a hip-hop career after being released from prison before becoming a country and rock crossover success.

Jelly previously appeared in a season two episode of Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King as himself. Titled “Kansas City Blues,” the episode premiered on September 22, 2024 on Paramount+. The series stars Sylvester Stallone and Neal McDonough.

Last month, the award-winning, multi-genre phenomenon scored his seventh No. 1 single, and ninth overall, with “Liar” on country radio. Solidifying the top spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart for an entire month, the fiery single is the four-time Grammy nominee’s second time to dominate both charts with an emotively vocal track from his sophomore country album, Beautifully Broken. With the first being the striking “I Am Not Okay,” Beautifully Broken debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 all-genre chart.

Most recently, the Nashville native was one of the iconic entertainers who performed for Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary concert, SNL50, live from Radio City. Honoring the great Johnny Cash, Jelly performed a medley of his hits as well as collaborated with Snoop Dogg. DeFord has also served as an Artist in Residence mentor on American Idol and is a headliner for 2025’s Stagecoach next month. Ahead of the 60th ACM Awards in May, Jelly will host the Opry NextStage Live from Texas show.
