Music video collaboration with the ASPCA encourages the public to help find loving homes for animals in need this holiday season
Jimmy Buffett unleashes a playful video for his tail-wagging tune, “Like My Dog.” In true Jimmy fashion, the smile-inducing video encourages his fans to get in on the fun. It features never-before-seen footage from the late musician, as well as videos hashtagged #likemydog and posted on social media by his fans of them dancing, dressing up, driving, and spending time with their furry friends at home, on the water, and everywhere in between.
The video was created in collaboration with the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) to encourage pet adoption from animal shelters and rescue organizations across the country.
“The dedication and humanity Jimmy Buffett put into his music crossed over into his love for animals, especially pets and wildlife,” states ASPCA President & CEO Matt Bershadker. “This collaboration honors Jimmy’s legacy and animal advocacy and reflects our shared commitment to help vulnerable dogs find safe and loving homes.”
Written by Scotty Emerick and Harley Allen, Buffett recorded “Like My Dog” as an ode to his favorite furry friends. The track was included on his final album, Equal Strain On All Parts released on November 3rd via Mailboat Records with distributed by Sun Records.
Equal Strain On All Parts (which was co-produced by Jimmy’s longtime collaborators Michael Utley and Mac McAnally) has been met with rave reviews from critics and fans alike. The 14-track record debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 Chart, landed at No. 1 on the Rock & Americana chart and No. 2 on the Country & Independent chart.
On the heels of the release of his wildly successful album, the late singer — who passed away in early September — was honored with a star-studded tribute at the CMA Awards in early November. Country music superstars Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, and the Zac Brown Band came together with McAnally for an emotional medley performance of some of Jimmy’s greatest hits. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade also featured a tribute to Jimmy, with the Macy’s Great American Marching Band performing a rendition of “Cheeseburger in Paradise.”
For his fans, Jimmy’s final album is the gift that keeps on giving. In a fitting tribute to the singer’s everlasting ethos, the “Like My Dog” video encapsulates his lifelong mantra of finding happiness in the simple things, spreading love, and joy, and his unwavering commitment to “keep the party going.”
