Baez will receive the inaugural Lizzle Glide Award
The always-festive Glide Annual Holiday Jam Show Up & Show Out is bringing the music home to the Tenderloin, returning to The Warfield in San Francisco, on Thursday, November 13th, for an unforgettable night of music, celebration, and recognition. Now in its 40th year, the Holiday Jam blends powerhouse performances with community spirit—raising vital funds for Glide’s mission of radical inclusion, unconditional love, and social justice. And new this year, the presentation of the inaugural Lizzie Glide Award.
This milestone concert will spotlight legendary R&B crooner El DeBarge, whose timeless hits and soaring falsetto have defined an era of soul music. Joining the Holiday Jam lineup is breakout hip-hop star and spoken word artist Ruby Ibarra – fresh off winning NPR’s 2025 Tiny Desk Contest and a sold-out 10-city tour. Additional performers include the young, energetic contemporary jazz violinist Dominique Hammons; rising jazz/funk star Miles Turk with Follow the Music; and the nationally acclaimed Glide Ensemble and The Change Band, led by Zoe Ellis.
Glide is excited to announce Joan Baez as the first recipient of the inaugural Lizzie Glide Award, named for its founder, who, in 1929, established the church as a place of social justice, education, and spiritual care for women, children, and the marginalized. The award celebrates individuals who carry forward her spirit of inclusion and equity. Baez is being honored for her lifelong dedication to human rights and advocacy. Through her music and activism, Baez has been a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change, embodying the very principles that define Glide.
Hosted by Priya David Clemens and featuring a spirited fundraising moment led by Liam Mayclem, the evening promises soul-stirring music, delectable dining, and joyful community connection. This San Francisco tradition inspires hope and raises essential funds for Glide’s work for individuals and families facing poverty, homelessness, and systemic injustice.
“This 40th Glide Holiday Jam carries the spirit of our founders, Reverend Cecil Williams and Janice Mirikitani, whose passions for live music and commitment to justice continue to guide us,” states Glide President & CEO Dr. Gina Fromer. “Jan and Cecil believed music could lift hearts, break down barriers, and unite us in spirit and action. On this special night, we honor that legacy with inspirational performances and a celebration of the radical inclusion that defines Glide.”
