Montgomery shared the news to his social media accounts

Nineties country star John Michael Montgomery is calling it quits on touring in 2025. The “I Swear” singer shared the news in a New Year’s Day post on social media while thanking fans for his career.

“I hope everyone enjoyed bringing in 2024 and may it be a wonderful one for all my friends out there. For me it will be the start of my farewell tour as I have decided to wind down my touring career over this year and 2025,” he says.

“It’s been a wonderful run for me from the beginning over 30 years ago in 1992 when my first song LIFE’s A DANCE was released to radio I think either as a 45 vinyl or on a cassette tape. CDs had not quite taken over the market yet and the internet was still in its infancy. It amazes me where it is today.

”I’ve been fortunate and blessed to be able to do what I love for so many years so

”Please join me on my journey as I say goodbye to the road life.

“And thanks so much for your support for the last 3 decades, it’s meant so much me.”

Seven dates for 2024 are currently listed on the country crooner’s website. It’s unclear if additional shows will be added.

Atlantic Records Nashville released “Life’s A Dance” to country radio in 1992. It was the title track from his multi-platinum debut album released the same year. The country star has released a total of ten studio albums with the first seven on Atlantic Nashville before the label shuttered its doors.

He has charted 20 singles on Billboard’s country charts with seven reaching No. 1, including “I Love The Way You Love Me,” “Be My Baby Tonight Tonight,” “I Can Love You Like That,” “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident),” and others. His last album, Time Flies, was released in 2008.

The 58-year-old Kentucky native didn’t cite any reason for retiring. His older brother Eddie is one-half of Montgomery Gentry while his son, Walker, is a rising country artist.
