Two others were also injured

John Michael Montgomery suffered injuries following a bus accident while en route to a concert stop in North Carolina. The incident happened on Friday (Sept 9th), after his bus overturned and injured three people.

WATE-TV reports the incident happened in East Tennessee near the Kentucky state line when the 2001 Prevost Featherlite bus veered off I-75, struck an embankment and overturned. It was the only vehicle involved.

Montgomery suffered from broken ribs while two other passengers were also injured.

“Yesterday we had a serious accident on the way to a concert in North Carolina. Everyone that was on the bus is recovering from their injuries,” the 90s country star writes on social media. “Despite some cuts and broken ribs, I am doing well. I will take some time over the next couple of weeks to heal and be back on the road soon. I am grateful to the medics and highway patrol for their quick response to this difficult situation. Thanks to everyone for their concerns.”

The “I Swear” singer, who hails from Nicholasville, KY, was wearing a seatbelt, along with another injured passenger. The third injured person was not wearing one, but no pending charges are expected.

Montgomery had a string of hits in the 90s that included “Life’s A Dance,” “I Can Love You Like That,” “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)” and others.
