The band released its debut album in 1984

After revealing a Bon Jovi-branded version of Monopoly, a new original Christmas song, and NECA seven-inch Jon Bon Jovi action figure, Jon Bon Jovi has teased “lots of other big, big surprises” are in store for the band’s 40th anniversary celebration in 2024. In a message to Spotify listeners who have the band as their top artist of 2023, Jon teases that new projects are coming soon, although the specifics were bleeped out.

“In 2024, it’s Bon Jovi’s 40th anniversary. We’re gonna have a new (bleep). We’ve archived everything we’ve ever owned — (bleep). There’s many, many songs that have never been released before. In fact, many I’ve forgotten about. There’s (bleep) that you’ll be able to see in the first quarter of the year, and lots of other big, big surprises to celebrate Bon Jovi’s 40th.”

It’s expected the follow-up to the band’s 2004 box set, 100 Million Fans Can’t Be Wrong — which was expected to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the group’s formation in 2023 — will be released in 2024.

“To coincide with what will be our 40th anniversary in 2023, we’re in the midst of archiving anything and everything we have, and much to my surprise, there’s probably 40 or 50 songs that we had no idea existed,” Jon said an October 2021 Q&A with Pink. “We’re going through that all right now. And now that technology is such — whether it’s lyric books or photographs and video and film and things — I had no idea that I was such a hoarder, we have a lot. And to coincide with the 40th anniversary is going to be the be-all end-all box set.”

Recently, former guitarist Richie Sambora shared that a documentary was in the works and hopes to reunite with his bandmates for an upcoming tour, although further details haven’t been revealed.

Bon Jovi released its self-titled debut album on January 21, 1984, on Polygram/Mercury Records, less than a year after forming in New Jersey.

Jon will also be honored as the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year for the 33rd annual Person of the Year benefit gala taking place ahead of the Grammys on February 2nd in Los Angeles. In addition to his extensive musical achievements, Jon Bon Jovi is being recognized for his impactful philanthropic work.

Jon has been spotted around Nashville recently as the group works on the follow-up to the band’s 2020 album. Jon is also attached to a five-floor 30,000 square-foot entertainment complex on Nashville’s Lower Broadway. His involvement has yet to be confirmed, but reports suggest he has teamed with Big Plan Holdings for the property that’s still under construction at 405 Broadway.

In February, Bon Jovi earned its second video in YouTube’s Billion Views Club with “Livin’ On A Prayer.”
