Nearly 73k in attendance at debut

CMA and ACM Award-winning singer/songwriter/producer Jon Pardi sold out the famed RodeoHouston in his debut appearance on Saturday night, selling 72,859 tickets – the highest paid attendance of the year so far. Pardi was supposed to perform in 2020 until COVID cut that season short and 2021’s rodeo was canceled. After a long two years, Pardi was finally able to make his debut on the rotating stage and posted this recap on his Instagram of the milestone evening.

“It only took us two years, but we finally made it,” Pardi told the crowd.

Pardi’s RodeoHouston debut comes after his Ain’t Always the Cowboy Tour announcement last month and first look at his highly anticipated upcoming studio release with “Last Night Lonely.”

The record follows Cody Johnson’s opening night performance, who became the third performer ever to sell out opening night last week. Following records set in previous years by Garth Brooks (2018) and George Strait (2017), Johnson attracted a crowd of 70,554 cheering fans to help launch the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s 90th anniversary season.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo promotes agriculture by hosting an annual, family-friendly experience that educates and entertains the public, supports Texas youth, showcases Western heritage and provides year-round educational support within the community. Since its beginning in 1932, the Rodeo has committed more than $550 million to the youth of Texas and education.
