The clip features Texas comedian Uncle Lazer
Country artist Jon Wolfe is serving up laughter, heart, and honky-tonk wisdom, unveiling the video for “Barstool Therapy.” The clip features a hilarious cameo from Texas-based comedian Uncle Lazer, bringing Wolfe’s relatable barroom anthem to life.
Filmed at the oldest bar in Texas, Riley’s Tavern, and directed by Mason Dixon, the video finds Wolfe in his Ralph Lauren-esque office, where he conducts his therapy sessions. Uncle Lazer is having an identity crisis and has turned to his therapist, Dr. Wolfe, for advice. After a rundown of potential side effects that Lazer might endure from Dr. Wolfe’s prescription of “barstool therapy,” Lazer hesitantly exits his doctor’s office to find himself inside a neon-soaked honky tonk. Lazer finds that his troubles are eased with some “longneck remedies,” a jukebox, and his signature dance.
Rising country star, Braxton Keith, makes his own cameo in the video while Wolfe and his band provide the live music that brings the bar to life. This music video is the perfect illustration of the song, with humor, levity, edge, and fun that everyone can relate to.
To celebrate the release, Wolfe will be hosting a video premiere party at Nashville hot spot Odie’s tonight from 4-6 pm (Tues, Oct 21st) – fans and industry can come view the video, and experience an in-person “barstool therapy” session from Jon Wolfe and Uncle Lazer.
“Barstool Therapy” serves as the title track from Wolfe’s upcoming album, arriving November 7th. The project, produced by Grammy-nominated Dave Brainard, continues Wolfe’s reputation as a modern torchbearer for traditional country – pairing rich storytelling with a dose of humor and heart. Wolfe has given fans a taste of the project via three single releases: warm throwback “The Older I Get (More Country I’m Gettin’ to Be),” singalong celebration “Tequila Cowboys,” featuring fellow Texan Randy Rogers, and the title track, which dropped in September.
