The global pop star has sold her catalog & recordings
Jonas Group Publishing and Jonas Catalog Holdings I, LLC, have acquired a vast catalog of copyrights and recordings from hit songwriter and recording artist Julia Michaels. She has earned widespread recognition for her multi-genre appeal and finely tuned perspective on love, loss and the broad spectrum of the human experience.
The acquired portfolio includes Michaels’ quadruple-platinum, Grammy-nominated smash “If The World Was Ending,” which she wrote and recorded with JP Saxe. The collection also features global hits such as the triple-platinum “Lose You To Love Me” recorded by Selena Gomez, the gold-certified “Circles Around This Town” recorded by Maren Morris, and “Pretty Please” recorded by Dua Lipa.
Other standouts include the platinum-certified “Heaven,” written and recorded for the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack, and the gold-certified “I Miss You” with Clean Bandit. The catalog also includes recordings by Lady Gaga, Shawn Mendes, Maroon 5, Diplo, Britney Spears, Nick Jonas, Noah Kahan, Justin Bieber, Jason Derulo, Keith Urban, and Kelsea Ballerini.
“Julia Michaels is a known master of songwriting and is revered across multiple genres of music,” states JGP President Leslie T. DiPiero. “Julia along with her manager, Beka Tishchker and their amazing team have a choice on who they trust to represent her works. We here at Jonas Group Publishing are truly honored that they have chosen us. Listening to her catalog of songs makes us feel like kids in a candy store!”
“Music is all about passion, and I’m so happy this music lives with Leslie, Kevin and their passionate team that values songwriters and creators,” Michaels adds. “I look forward to working with them and growing the reach of these songs.”
Over the past few years, no songwriter has reshaped pop music more than Michaels has. In 2017, she embarked on a solo career with her five-time platinum-selling debut single “Issues.” A year later, her peers recognized her stunning work with Grammy Award nominations for Best New Artist and Song of the Year. She released a series of critically acclaimed EPs, including 2017’s fan-favorite Nervous System and 2019’s critically acclaimed Inner Monologue Part 1 and Inner Monologue Part 2. She also embarked on The Inner Monologue Tour, which marked her first-ever US headline tour following an enviable run touring with Maroon 5, Keith Urban, Shawn Mendes, Niall Horan, and Pink. In 2021, Michaels released her highly anticipated full-length debut album, Not In Chronological Order, while her music continued to connect with songs like “What A Time” and “Heaven” going on to achieve platinum status. To date, she has also notched 25 Billboard Hot 100 entries as a songwriter, including two No. 1s for Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” and Selena Gomez’s “Lose You to Love Me,” in addition to four top ten hits. She received her third Grammy Award nomination in the category of Song Of The Year for the hit song “If The World Was Ending” and her fourth Grammy Award nomination for her work on H.E.R.’s album Back of My Mind. With the release of “Sorry To Me Too” at the end of 2022, Michaels gave fans a taste of what they can expect from her next chapter as a solo artist. She recently contributed original songs to the Disney film, Wish, starring Oscar winner Ariana DeBose.
