Urban will release The Speed Of Now, Part 1 on Sept 18th

When Keith Urban announced his next album, The Speed Of Now, Part 1, he unveiled the track listing that omitted the collaborators on two tracks. We now know who they are, thanks to social media. Urban will collaborate with Breland & Chic’s Nile Rodgers on the opening “Out Of The Cage” which follows “One Too Many” with pop star Pink.

“When I collaborate, I’m always looking for that ‘third thing.’ There’s what I do, there’s what my collaborator does and then there’s this ‘third thing’ that I’m most curious about,” Urban says as he unveils the collaborators. “That’s what interests me the most – when the sum of the parts becomes even more than what I envisioned. That’s what I love so much about it – finding common ground, shaping it and bringing it together.”

The project includes current hit single, “God Whispered Your Name” and “We Were” featuring Eric Church, as well as a solo version of the track. Those two tracks, along with “Polaroid” and “Superman” are available instantly with pre-orders.

“In October 2019 this album title came to me. I liked it because I felt like life was flying by so fast. But music (for me) has always been the place where it slows down and doesn’t even exist. I would never have imagined that, in 2020, this album title would take on a whole new meaning,” Urban shares of the album’s title.

Urban announced the project back in May.

The album drops two days after he hosts the 55th Annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards on September 16th in Nashville. It’s the first time the show will be held in the city, but was decided following COVID-19. The show will be Urban’s first time hosting and will air on the CBS Television Network and stream live on CBS All Access.
