Expanded EP coming August 11th

Kelsea Ballerini is expanding her Rolling Up the Welcome Mat EP with a new edition on August 11th via Black River Entertainment. The project will include some new editions, including a bonus seventh song not included on the original edition, released earlier this year.

“It’s kinda scary opening a wound that time has mended,” the country star shares about the project. “…but this unexplainably transformative welcome mat had one last bit of rolling up to do.”

The six song project and short film were inspired by her divorce from Morgan Evans. However, she’s asking fans to look past that and enjoy the music on the updated edition.

“It’s most important that I articulate that this re-release is for you and you only,” she states. “The added outro’s that we ended up scream-singing nightly on tour, the lyric changes along a healing journey, hearing you very loudly explain that ‘The interlude needs to be a full song, Kelsea, come on!’ Plus, a new song to bring the story more up to date.”

She continues, “With this, comes a favor. From the deepest and purest part of my heart, I ask that you help this be ours and let the music simply be the music, not dig back into the experience that it was written about nearly a year ago. As a songwriter, producer, artist i’m proud and protective of this EP, and as a woman and human also proud and protective of the new, happy season of life I’m in.

“My real hope is for us to continue growing, healing, and evolving together with acceptance and kindness (even when we unleash our inner fire breathing dragon singing the new versions of these songs). Am I right?”

Ballerini is taking fans behind the scenes of the EP and film that she wrote and directed with three special screenings. After kicking off at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on August 1st, Ballerini is heading to Nashville on August 8th and New York City on August 10th to present the short film with behind-the-scenes details of the process and her vision. During the showings, she discusses the inspiration, writing and recording of making Rolling Up The Welcome Mat, giving fans a glimpse into this season of her life, as well as answering questions.
