New solo EP due this summer

Kimberly Perry of The Band Perry has released her first-ever solo single, “If I Die Young Pt. 2.” The song is an updated take on the sibling trio’s 7x Platinum single, “If I Die Young.”

“I’ve had time to bloom / Plantin’ them roses instead and I’m changing my tune since I said / If I die young / Bury me in satin / Lay me down on a bed of roses / Sink me in the river at dawn / Send me away with the words of a love song / The sharp knife of a short life / Now I know there’s no such thing as enough time,” she sings in the chorus.

The track will appear on Perry’s upcoming Bloom EP, due June 9th via Records Nashville.

“I’ve had time to bloom… I’m deliriously happy to announce that my first ever solo EP Bloom is coming out on June 9th and the first song – ‘If I Die Young Pt. 2’ – is out this Friday!!” she shares on social media. “I’m SO excited for y’all to hear all the things!! Pre-save/pre-add via the link in my bio when you get a chance. It would mean the whole world to me. Thank you thank you thank you.”

Perry co-wrote the track with Nicolle Galyon and Jimmy Robbins. Perry wrote the original version solo which appeared on The Band Perry’s self-titled debut album in 2010.

Last month, Perry took a leap into the next chapter of her life and signed with Records Nashville to kick off her new solo career. Two days later, it was announced that the Grammy winning singer/songwriter signed a global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music and Songs & Daughters Publishing.

The solo venture follows the news that The Band Perry are taking a break to pursue “individual creative pursuits.” The trio’s last batch of music came in 2019 when they released “The Good Life” and “Nite Swim” after attempting to transition to pop.
