Kraftwerk’s ‘Autobahn’ to get 50th anniversary Dolby Atmos Mix

One of the biggest albums will be presented in three new formats on March 7th

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Kraftwerk has announced three new editions of their landmark 1974 album Autobahn for release on March 7th. After revisiting the original 16-track master tapes, Kraftwerk founder Ralf Hütter with engineer Fritz Hilpert have created a new Dolby Atmos Mix, which takes the listening experience of this seminal recording further and deeper than ever before. The new Dolby Atmos Mix will be available as a Blu-ray disc and digital release, and for vinyl lovers, the stereo album is pressed as a highly attractive vinyl picture disc for the very first time, making it the only official picture disc in Kraftwerk’s discography.

The Blu-ray Audio disc will feature a Dolby Atmos mix, 5.1 mix, stereo mix, 2024 edits of Autobahn and Kometenmelodie 2 (in Dolby Atmos mix, 5.1 mix, stereo) plus a visualizer video of “Autobahn (Edit)” using Kraftwerk’s live projections. There is an exclusive edition of the Blu-ray, which comes housed in a card slipcase which is only available from the official Kling Klang store and via Super Deluxe Edition.

The set will also be available as a 12-inch picture disc vinyl containing the 2009 stereo, remastered edition of the album.

Finally, a digital release containing the full album in Dolby Atmos will be available at streaming services.

In addition, a new single edit of “Autobahn,” which originally became an underground hit in the UK and US, will be released on 7-inch vinyl and digitally on February 14th.

Kraftwerk acknowledges Autobahn at 50 with some newly announced US, UK and European shows, including a headline appearance at the Forever Now Festival at Milton Keynes Bowl on Sunday, June 22nd.
