Lauren Watkins turns the page with ‘Lose My Cool’

A new era begins as Watkins leaves heartbreak behind

Big Loud Records’ songbird Lauren Watkins cranks up the heat with the release of her new track “Lose My Cool,” out now. Marking the first new release since her full-length 2024 debut album The Heartbroken Record, “Lose My Cool” signals an exciting new chapter in the artist’s blossoming career. Blending raw honesty with a fresh outlook, Watkins is stepping into her power and showing listeners exactly who she is. Alongside the song, Watkins unveils an all-new music video, available now.

“I’m so excited for this song to be out in the world,” shares Watkins. “This song is a snapshot of this season of my life – free, hopeful, and unapologetically happy. Fans have known me as the heartbroken girl, but being in love and married now is new territory for me. This song is about embracing that, showing my cards and letting go. I’m excited for fans to see a new side of me.”

Penned by Watkins, producer Will Bundy and songwriting heavy-hitters Nicolle Galyon and Rodney Clawson, “Lose My Cool” captures the rush of letting your walls come down for the right person. Inspired by her marriage to Bundy, the track balances independence with undeniable attraction. Her signature smoky vocals with equal parts smirk and sincerity find her trading overly sentimental clichés for sharp, real emotion.

Following the success of The Heartbroken Record, a 17-track debut that earned praise from Stereogum as one of the best ten country albums of 2024 with standout tracks “Gatlinburg,” “Anybody But You” and “Settling Things,” Watkins is moving on from heartbreak and on to greener pastures. No longer the heartbroken girl, she’s stepping into the light and proving that losing your cool isn’t always a bad thing.

Fans can experience “Lose My Cool” live as the Nashville-bred artist hits the road this weekend with Zach Top for his Cold Beer and Country Music Tour, which visited her old stomping grounds of Oxford, Mississippi earlier this week. After spending 2024 on Morgan Wallen’s One Night At A Time Tour, Watkins keeps her foot on the gas as she joins Riley Green and Lainey Wilson this summer and fall.
